Boise, ID to Fairfeild, ID: The first big push out
I don’t have a lot to say about this ride, I was pretty fried about half way through. I left Boise really wanting to get out of the state. The first section of my ride would take me along the interstate which is actually all the major east/west highways (84, 30, 20, and 26). I wasn’t too excited about that. The ride wasn’t too bad as far as elevation or wind, but there was junk all over the shoulder. I don’t think anyone cleans up after all the blown tires. I ended up getting another flat because of a steel belted radial.
I was planning on staying in Mountain Home after I got off of the interstate. The experience was just too stressful. After talking to the local bike shop and realizing it was only about 2pm I decided to get lunch and make a run for it. I thought if nothing else I could stay in Hill City.
Well I got over the big climb, which you could see the top from the bottom of the climb. And when I got to Hill City I realized that it wasn’t much of a city, or even a town. So I made the extra push to Fairfield which actually had some people living in it. I was aided by a tail wind and the desire to find a place to sleep. I swung by the RV Park but decided on the hotel. I needed a soak to relax my legs.
